About two thirds of the teams out there still have something to play for and there are some real whales out there this week that will help shape the playoff picture just a little bit. Atlanta vs New Orleans gave us a Thursday night treat with Atlanta covering by the lace of Matt Bryant’s shoe. Atlanta now becomes a legit wild card contender and the race in the NFC South tightens up significantly. Weather is also a factor with the East coast getting slammed with snow and the West coast experiencing tragic forest fires. There’s a lot of moving parts so World Series of Handicapping contenders have to be on their game and continue to rely on the trustworthy sources they’ve been using all season. Here we go.
Dallas -4 at New York
The Cowboys still have an outside shot at the playoffs and although this is divisional matchup and the Giant would love nothing more than to ruin this for their one of their biggest foes, the Giants have not heart. They are one of the worst defensive teams in the league, and one of the most inefficient offensive teams as well. I expect a big game from Dak, Dez and Alfred and with Sean Lee coming back the Cowboys are 24% more efficient at stopping the run. Easy cover on the road for the Cowboys.
Los Angeles -6 vs Washington
There are few teams as hot as the Chargers right now, and after their horrendous start they are healthy and have the perfect blend of youth and experience to seal the deal on a playoff spot. The Washington Redskins will not get in the way of this. This is another easy call that the field is on and unless Kirk Cousins pulls out another Christmas type miracle the Redskins will struggle in this one.
Cincinnati -5.5 vs Chicago
I can see rookie QB Mitch Trubisky struggling on the road in this one, and the Bengals offense really clicking after their performance in Denver last week. I’m going to fade this game however, because the Bengals have 6 starters out and five on defense. This could be to much to overcome if we are wanting the Bengals to cover here. To the field – this one is all yours.
Cleveland +3.5 vs Green Bay
In a shocker special that I’m on this week, the Cleveland Browns get their first win of the season. This is as good a time as any to pick the Browns, who have a top 10 defense. They play at home, and Josh Gordon is ripped and ready to go. The Packers have been decimated by injury, and at 6-6 they are pretty much out of in. I expect an all in Browns team in this one with an outright win a possibility.
OVER/UNDER Special: Oakland at Kansas City 47.5
I’m taking the over in this one with both teams fighting for a playoff spot. The Chiefs offense looks to be back in rhythm and the Raiders are going to put up some points as well. I’d be shocked if this game was an under as the Raiders are as much in the playoff hunt as the Chiefs. Mark it down.
