The bookmakers have made the Pittsburgh Penguins a PK-165 favorite vs. the Nashville Predators in Game #1 of the Stanley Cup Finals. If you watched the Nashville vs. Anaheim series, it was one of the most physical series of the entire NHL playoffs and if Nashville comes into the finals with that same type of physical and mental approach, it could be a very short final!
It’s obvious the bookmakers have included the star power names with Crosby and Malkin into the opening Game #1 line, whereas when you look at the Predators, the only names that really bring some type of line value is P.K. Subban and maybe Pekka Rinne between the pipes.
In fact, the Penguins played a bit of goaltending roulette in the Senators series, as Marc Andre Fleury was the starter at the beginning of the series, then Matt Murray came in the later rounds and won the coaches confidence to win the series in double overtime in Game #7 vs. Ottawa.
Nashville is coming into Game #1 on 6 days’ rest, while the Penguins will be coming on 3 days, big advantage for the Predators. I can see the Predators coming out of the gate flying and really crashing and banging their way out of Game #1!
Furthermore, with a PK +145 underdog lines; that’s great value on the Predators.
