New Orleans (18-29 SU, 20-27 ATS) has played well of late despite losing guards Tyreke Evans (18.4 PER) and Eric Gordon (13.1 PER) to injury. Undrafted rookie Bryce Dejean-Jones (14.2 PER) has filled in admirably for Evans since signing a pair of 10-day contracts, and veteran Norris Cole (9.1 PER) has performed much better this year when called upon to start.
The Lakers (10-41 SU, 22-29 ATS) are going to be without power forward Larry Nance Jr. (13.3 PER) until at least the All-Star break, but they’re otherwise healthy, and they’re hitting the Big Easy on a high note after beating the Minnesota Timberwolves (–5 away) 119-115. Kobe Bryant turned back the clock with 38 points and a 7-of-11 shooting night from behind the arc. However, Andrew Wiggins had 30 points at the other end for Minnesota.
