We have some football coming back – albeit it’s just the CFL.
Still – being from Canada — I’m a big fan of the CFL, especially when there’s no NFL or CFB going on. In this article I’m going to take a look at the futures markets for the 2015 CFL Grey Cup and share my CFL prediction for who will win it all this season.
Odds to Win the CFL Grey Cup in 2015
- Calgary Stampeders +375
- Edmonton Eskimos +495
- Saskatchewan Roughriders +560
- B.C. Lions +625
- Hamilton Tiger-Cats +660
- Montreal Alouettes +820
- Toronto Argonauts +850
- Winnipeg Blue Bombers +1175
- Ottawa Redblacks +3550
There’s no surprise that the Calgary Stampeders are favored to win the Grey Cup. They won last season and bring back the best team on paper in 2015, but it’s hard to repeat as Grey Cup Champions.
Only two teams have won two Grey Cups in a row since 1983, so don’t assume the Stamps will dominate again.
I’m surprised that the Ti-Cats are priced so low at +660 odds. They made the Grey Cup last year for the second year in a row, but they came up short again. Hamilton hasn’t won the Grey Cup since 1999, but this could be the year they get over the hump.
2015 CFL Season Preview
The West is going to be dominant again, but it won’t be as bad as it was in 2014.
Calgary is weaker on the offensive line and that’ll hurt the run game, especially early in the season, but the defense is still strong and will keep them around in the majority of games when the offense struggles to get going.
I’m rolling with the Edmonton Eskimos in the West though, as they should improve upon a 12-6 record. They had the best offense and defense in the CFL last year. They lose Stamps, but he had already lost his WR #1 role to Bowman.
Toronto and Ottawa are going to be in for a long season in the East. The Argos need Ricky Ray back healthy.
With Ray sidelined for now – the race in the East will be between the Ti-Cats and Alouettes. Montreal lost Sam already before the season even started, but this team should be improved from 2014. It all comes down to whether the offense can get going.
Montreal’s defense is great, but the offense was terrible last season.
Hamilton is my pick in the East. They’ll win the division for the third time in a row. Zach Collaros has some experience now and he even put up good numbers last year. The Ti-Cats benefit from playing in the weak East as well.
· Bet on the Hamilton Tiger-Cats to win the 2015 Grey Cup (+660 at Americasbookie.com)
I have the Eskimos and Tiger-Cats making it to the Grey Cup in 2015 and the Ti-Cats will finally emerge with a win.
You can’t complain about the line we’re getting on Hamilton in the futures markets. If they can get a run game going they’ll be next to unstoppable, as the passing offense and the entire defense are already strong points.
