A few years ago, I was doing all this number crunching and started to play around with different formulas on how the Bookmakers came up with their numbers. How many times have you looked over at a buddy after a football or basketball game and point out the oddsmaker’s were right on the dot on the final score or total?
It’s pretty amazing when you think about it; let’s look at this past Sunday, you have 2 small schools like Western Kentucky and San Diego going head to head in the second round of the March Madness tournament. Bookmakers set the line at Western Kentucky at -5 and the over/under at 134.5. Final score; Western Kentucky 74 and San Diego 63! WK wins by 9 points, but the O/U was right on the nose at 135. Like how in the hell did they come up with this number? Don’t you just hate getting hooked?
So, as an astute sports bettor, what do you do to counter the bookmaker’s number? What makes their number better then a number you can come up with? This is where the ATS Calculator comes in and breaks down several situation of a game and gives you a guesstimate on the final outcome of the game.
The ATS Calculator will give you the scoring average of a teams home, away, after a win, vs. division, vs. conference, after an over, after an under and several other scoring averages that gets compiled in the calculator and spits out it’s own version of what the line should be. Remember, you’re betting into a number, you’re not betting Team A vs. Team B, you’re betting whether Team A can beat Team B by xx amount of points and the final score of both combined teams will fall on this number.
Let’s face it, with over 100+ basketball games and football games during the college season, how on earth are you suppose to come up with a number if you don’t have the tools to help you get a starting point. The beauty about the ATS Calculator, it eliminates any factors you feel doesn’t fit into your formula. If Team A is on the road, then you have the choice of removing the “home average” from the system and etc…You have total control on what goes and stays in your own formula, the ATS Calculator will give you the outcome.
There’s 3 factors to handicapping in my book; fundamental, systems/trends and numbers, let the ATS Calculator be 33% of your handicapping and marry the fundamental and systems/trends with your final pick.
