Toyota Blue Grass Stakes Preview
Derby Prep Race – Oaklawn
Grade I 1, 1/8 miles
$1 Million Purse
The $750,000 Toyota Blue Grass horse race at Keeneland drew a field of seven for Saturday with last year’s Breeders’ Cup Juvenile champ “Street Sense” a solid 4-5 morning line horse betting favorite.
The Blue Grass is another good Kentucky Derby prep horse race. A couple of longshots are entered in the Blue Grass. Love Dubai and Times Squared, are both coming back on very short rest but probably are overmatched against the horse betting favorite Street Sense.
This is the final Kentucky Derby prep for Street Sense. He has been set up for this race by his trainer Carl Nafzger, who has never won this race. The horse that figures to give Street Sense a run for his money on the horse gambling betting line is “Great Hunter.” Great Hunter defeated Street Senses when the two ran here in the Lane’s End Futurity last year.
Zanjero is another horse that has a shot on the horse betting line. He is trained by Steve Asmussen and has run well all year in graded stakes. Dominican is another horse betting major threat in this race. He’s making just his second start of the year, and loves the track. Teuflesberg has two stakes wins and is not getting much respect in the horse betting line.
The longshots Love Dubai and Time Squared are both 30-1 but are facing that short rest problem. Love Dubai finished last in the Illinois Derby last weekend. Time Squared broke his maiden at this track just eight days ago.
Here is the field with their post positions, jockey and horse betting morning line for Saturday’s race.
1 – Zanjero – Garrett Gomez – 8-1 2 – Dominican – Rafael Bejarano – 10-1 3 – Love Dubai – Miguel Mena – 30-1 4 – Street Sense – Calvin Borel – 4-5 5 – Time Squared – Julien Leparoux – 30-1 6 – Teuflesberg – Edgar Prado – 10-1 7 – Great Hunter – Corey Nakatani – 9-5
