The Cleveland Cavaliers are hoping to gain ground in the Eastern Conference tonight as they host the New Jersey Nets.  Cleveland is just a half game back of the Bulls for 2nd place in the conference. On the other side of the coin New Jersey is trying to improve their playoff standings and a win tonight would reduce their magic number to one for making the playoffs. The Cavaliers have been off since Sunday when they lost 87-82 defeat at Detroit.  LeBron James again did not play up to par hitting only 5-of-16 shots for 20 points. "At times, we did a great job of reacting to the double-team and at times we didn't," James said. "That's a great team, and you can't have any lapses on defense or on offense."

Cleveland does have three of its final four games at home while Chicago plays two of its final three on the road.

Richard Jefferson finished with a season-high 35 points on Tuesday, Carter had 31, and Jason Kidd had 14 rebounds and 11 assists. “This game is about getting stops and making shots at the right time, and we did that in the fourth quarter," Kidd said. "We've got us guys who've been in this situation, and we got very fortunate the ball bounced our way."

The Cavs and Nets have split two their match-ups this season, with the home team winning both times. New Jersey won 113-111 on Dec. 20 as Vince Carter had 38 points. The Cavs won 96-91 on Jan. 6th.
