The 2009 CFL Grey Cup will be played at McMahon Stadium on November 29th 2009 and the game will be between the Eastern Conference finalists vs. the Western Conference finalist. The Calgary Stampeders are the defending CFL Grey Cup Champions and I’m sure Calgary Stampeders head coach John Hufnagel would love to represent the Western Conference and play for the Grey Cup in their own back yard. Want to bet on the 2009 CFL Grey Cup?
Here’s one of my TOP TIPS on how to make money in the sports betting world! Parity is a gamblers best friend, because anybody can win a championship in this new environment, just ask the 2003 Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the 35/1 long shots New York Giants of the 2008 NFL Football season. Here’s what you do; let’s use the Stanley Cup as our example. Sportsbooks released their Stanley Cup Futures odds at the beginning of the season, you try to find a team that is 30 to 1 or higher that has a good shot of making the playoffs. All we are looking for is a team that is getting no respect, but has the players and ownership to make significant trades at the trade deadline to make their teams better at the trading deadline. If these teams make the playoffs, you will make money, because we will start “hedging” our bets once that team is close to elimination. Hedging your bet means to protect yourself against a possible loss. It is a term used chiefly in the financial markets. Here’s what I did in the 2004 Stanley Cup Playoffs. I wagered $300 on a futures ticket on the Calgary Flames to win the Stanley Cup at 44-1. Therefore, a $300 wager would have paid out $13,200 if the Flames would have won the cup! (They did, see game #6) Anyway, I digress, once the Flames got to the Stanley Cup vs. the Tampa Bay Lightning, I waited until they got into a position (Game #7) where they would be eliminated and wagered a certain amount on the Lightning, so this way, I would have covered my original $300 deposit and make a small profit. The logic of this theory of betting, find a long shot with good odds and hope they make the playoffs, then its pay day.
Using this type of betting, let’s review the odds below and here’s what I’m going to recommend. The Toronto Argonauts have made some good moves during the off season and most importantly, got rid of some over age players who were putting the Argos defense in a difficult situation, because they were past their prime. I mean this with no disrespect, but when running backs and receivers are flying by you, it’s time to re-evaluate and make the necessary changes. The Argos are +1350 to win the 2009 Grey Cup and the goal of this type of wagering is for this team to make the playoffs, so we can start betting against them for a profit. At +1350 odds to win the Grey Cup, we are getting excellent value and with a QB who has won a Grey Cup in Kerry Joseph, this is the best play on the board.
